Alpinestars Ridge V2 Waterproof Boots

The Alpinestars Ridge v2 Waterproof boots are an updated version of the original Ridge that debuted in 2011.

The Ridge v2 carries over several of the features that made the original a long lived best seller. The Velcro® closure system is easy to use and lets the boot open wide so they are easy to put on. The lower strap gives you some adjustability over the top of the foot so you can keep them secure but not too tight or loose. A shift pad will protect against excessive wear on the fairly wide, reinforced toe box. Sometimes with Alpinestars, we see a narrow, rounded toe box but these boots are generous in the toe box so you should have some room to wiggle your toes around if that is your thing.

The boots have all the protection you would expect in a riding boot: a reinforced toe box, dual-density ankle protection, a shin plate, and a stiff sole. The number one call out on these boots is this: THEY ARE EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE! So be warned, haha. You should be fine on or off the bike in these.

The waterproof Drystar membrane does stop just above the ankle, you can see the gaiter in the 9th photo we took, so you’ll want to make sure your riding pants or rain suit cover the top of the boots well in rain. That Drystar membrane is fairly breathable and these boots should work for most riders in warm to cold, wet, or dry weather. If it is super hot out you might want a shoe with more venting but otherwise, these will get you through most of the year.
